A Quick History Lesson
One of Zuula’s features that’s just about impossible to miss is its ability to save a user’s search history. This functionality is turned on for every user the first time that they come to Zuula. It’s the feature that creates the list of “Recent Searches” that you see to the left of your search results (click on the thumbnail below to see an example of a Recent Searches list).
One use of the history feature is, of course, to keep track of the searches you’ve carried out. If you’ve ever carried out an involved search, using lots of keywords, then you know how easy it is to forget what searches you’ve carried out. The history feature helps you avoid that problem.
An arguably even more important use of the history feature is to re-do searches you’ve already done. To re-do a search listed in your Recent Searches list, just click on it, and Zuula will do the search again.
Zuula also makes it easy to manage your search history. There are small “garbage can” symbols () next to each saved search that you can click on to delete the search from the Recent Searches history list. In addition, you can click on the “Delete All” link at the bottom of the history list to delete all the items in the list.
If you want the search history feature to be turned off for a while, you can click on the “Turn Off” link at the bottom of the Recent Searches list, and the list will be hidden until you turn the history feature back on.
Even when the history feature is off, however, you’ll still see a Recent Searches column to the left of your search results. If you want to reclaim that space to make extra room for your search results, you can close the Recent Searches column by clicking on one of the left-pointing arrows () at the edge of the column.
The bottom line: Zuula’s search history feature adds power to your searching by letting you see, manage, and use a list of the searches you’ve carried out.
Some fine print: Zuula maintains a separate list of Recent Searches for each search type. Thus, the list that you’ll see for web searches will be different, for example, than the list you see for image searches. This means that when you delete one or multiple items from a list of Recent Searches, you will be deleting the items only from the list for that type of search. However, when you turn off the search history feature, it will stop keeping track of your searches for all types of searches.
